DESCRIPTION:When: Monday\, May 4\, 2026\, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.\n\n\n\nWhere: Center for Lake Erie Education and Research\, 160 East Front Street\, Erie\, PA 16507.\n\n\n\nAudience: K-12 classroom teachers\, preservice teachers\, school administrators\, curriculum designers\, and nonformal educators.\n\n\n\nCredits: Six Act 48 continuing education hours will be provided for Pa. Certified Teachers.\n\n\n\nCost: Free\, including lunch.\n\n\n\nMWEE Designation: Pa. Certified MWEE Ambassador.\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\nRegister Now\n\n\n\nDownload Flyer\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThis full‑day professional learning experience prepares K–12 formal and nonformal educators to design and facilitate Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEEs) grounded in local watershed issues. Participants will engage with environmental experts\, engineers\, and MWEE facilitators as they explore flood phenomena\, stormwater runoff\, the Erie hidden creek systems\, riparian buffers\, and best management practices (BMPs).  \n\n\n\nEducators will participate in hands‑on field investigations\, an engineering design challenge\, and action project planning — including opportunities to connect student learning to authentic community needs through storm drain murals and local watershed stewardship efforts. By the end of the workshop\, educators will leave with the knowledge\, confidence\, and resources to implement a full MWEE aligned to the PA STEELS and EL&S Standards.
