Roots and Branches Institute

  • When: Wednesday, June 17 and Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.
  • Where: John Rudy York County Park, 400 Mundis Race Road, York, PA 17406.
  • Audience: K-12 classroom teachers, school administrators, curriculum designers, preservice teachers, and nonformal educators.
  • Credits: Up to 12 Act 48 continuing education hours will be provided for Pa. Certified Teachers.
  • Cost: Free, including lunch.

The Roots and Branches Institute brings together classroom teachers and local partners to build meaningful connections that support environmental literacy in education. This collaborative event highlights classrooms actively implementing STEELS standards, with a focus on real-world learning through field experiences, community partnerships, and student-driven action.

Participants will engage with regional organizations and experts, discovering opportunities to enhance classroom instruction and expand learning beyond the school walls. The institute is designed to inspire, connect, and equip educators with the resources and partnerships needed to create impactful, place-based learning experiences.
